Just a quick note to let you know what is up with us. Three of us are supposed to be in Guatemala right now. But the equipment didn't make it through customs in time, so we sent only one BMET. David Astete went to Coban to do some repairs and we will go in a few weeks when the equipment arrives at Chimaltenango to be installed. There is a good chance that the original guy who was going with me cannot make the next trip, so I am probably going to be looking for another Spanish-speaking BMET to go sometime between now and Christmas - I guess mid-December or just after the first of the year. I will keep everyone who is signed up through our website informed of our needs. As always, all expenses will be paid - you will just need to give us a week of your time.
Donations are coming in slow. Tools and test equipment, as well as maintenance supplies such as fuses, cable ties, connectors are needed. But even more in need is money. Aside from a great gift from the CMIA's Inland Empire, there have been very little cash donations. We always seem to need to buy some items at the last minute before a trip - things that we know we'll need for the trip, such as specific fuses, sterilizer gaskets (many manufacturers do not give them to us), or even wall fasteners to mount monitors and repair broken sheet metal.
Any size monetary donation is welcome - from $5 up. 100% of all money donated is used for the benefit of training biomeds in developing countries.
Thanks in advance,
Patrick Lynch
